I was asking for software that will put permanent captions on digital pics.

Picasa has been recommended below. I will try that.

    Any other free ones?

    Thanks all.

  2. You can use FastStone Image Viewer. Tools - Batch Convert Selected Images (F3). Check Advanced Options and under Text tab set/write whatever you want. Same program can tweak brightness, sharpness etc.

Do you really want to do this permanently ?

If not, just use dvd slideshow GUI to create an er um slideshow and that prog allows you to put a subtitle for the descriptive text.

Most would use photoshop or its little brother photoshop elements for content enhancement. Your camera supplier may also have some software available for free.

    Thanks DB83 for comments.

These are 35mm colour slides of an overseas trip that I am scanning to convert them to digital photos. I am amazed and very happy with the resulting jpg digital photos.
I just wanted to check if there was any software that would put a number and brief permanent description text on the photo that would be visible when viewing the photo anywhere such as on a digital TV.
You are knowledgable on this sofware but I am not.

    Cheers and thanks.

Thanks Sheppaul. Picasa great for adding captions to digital pics.

I should have been asking for software that will add captions to pics.
