I'm trying to use VirtualDub to capture some older Digital8 movies to PC and it will not do the audio. I've tried everything and cannot get it to capture the audio. I've used WinDV and it will capture audio, but I'd prefer to use VD as it has more settings to it. I've seen it mentioned that it needs a cable from the soundcard to the capture card for it to capture audio but that seems absurd as the WinDV captures audio off my firewire perfectly. Any ideas??

Once AGAIN......WinDV via Firewire is a DATA TRANSFER!!!!!!!!!!.......anything via VirtualDub is a CAPTURE. Two completely unrelated activities.
A DATA TRANSFER via Firewire is 1000X better than capturing via VirtualDub. Why are you even entertaining the idea of capturing material from a Digital8 camera?

Exactly, it would be like making a recording of a CD in order to put it on a computer.
