Simple x264 launcher needs a fresh clean avisynth install. Even if this was the case before, some programs, codec pacs (like ffmpeg), registry changes, viruses (gasp!) conspire to change the default *.dlls and the order of their significance in decoding. Some shortcut *.avsi scripts in the avisynth\plug-ins directory can do the same. So, first uninstall simple x264 completely, including preferences, & delete its folder in \program files (x86). Do the same for avisynth (delete its folder also). Turn off the computer completely (unplug from AC power; do not merely reboot). Turn computer back on again. Install avisynth (preferably stable 2.5.8, not 2.6). Reboot computer. Install simple x264.
For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i".

  7. Always test out your scripts in something like VDub (which will throw an error message helping to pinpoint the problem) before trying to encode in a program that gives you no clue as to what's wrong.

This is the point, assuming you started with a clean avisynth installation, to now add specific *.dlls in the \plug-ins folder. In general, AVIsource is ok for VfW, but most anything else (including native, non-avi containered MPEG streams) need directshowsource. Try installing ffdshow, then reboot. Dang where's my tinfoil hat

To get a screenshot of the currently active window only, press Alt+PrtScr. Your desktop background is not as helpful as the launcher log.

Not having DirectShowSource as AviSynth plugin available is suspicious. Did you install any crap software which messed with your AviSynth plugins registry path?

Uninstalling AviSynth and installing it again should fix this issue. Usually. But I don't know every other possible evil software.

But using DirectShowSource at all is not recommendable either, as long as native source plugins are still available. AviSource is fine for most AVIs as long as the required VfW codecs are installed; but in general, one of the most versatile and reliable source plugins for AviSynth is L-SMASH Works. Unfortunately it is a little complex and not yet supported by all GUIs which build an AviSynth script for you.
