Now listen very carefully, get your VHS, open it up and unwind the tape into the floppy drive, from there send the .dat file of the VCD to the floppy drive (normally ":a") and >BANG< (insert smoke effect) you have yourself a VHS copy of that prized VCD. Now just wind the tape back out and rejoin it using a tape joiner/cutter and all is perfect.

what the @$%* is that a real way to do it ?
if so i really dont get it
is there any otherways to get from vcd to vhs ? -
Well you can do it that way if you want to but i suggest these methods, first of all you have to give us some details like whether you a TV-Out card because if you do then you can output it to your TV then just record it from there or if your DVD player doesnt have macrovision than you can play the vcd through it and then record from there.

i have a tv-out but when i connect it all up i only get a black and white picture on my TV :(
that is where i became stuck
any ideas ??? -
Sounds like your TV or TV-Out card is having problems with playing an NTSC signal on a PAL TV or vice versa

does that mean i am unable to do it
i can get workin on my other tv but i then have problems recording the channel onto my VHS ?
can u sort that 1 out or that not enough info 4 u ?
if u need more please let me know

well at least tell us what your video card is, we are not mind readers here. In ati products, you have to go into display properties and turn it on that way. give us some details.

You dont need a macrovision free DVD Vcd's doent use macrovision.Just connect your DVD to your VCR and start recording.

I am having the same challenge outputting a VCD to a VHS recorder.
I even bought one of those stabilizers to stop it and it still is happening.
The macrovision must be stronger when DVD is inserted, because I can never get a clear recording. When copying a VCD it is quite clear on occasion and then slips back to black and white (mostly when I really need good quality (as good as VCD to VHS can get anyway).)
If someone has more option/ideas I'd love to hear it. Are there more threads on this topic?
