Yes I have the ps3 ylod. Is it dead?

I have the 40gb fat model. It was bought new when you could buy them new in stores and I've been the sole owner.

I tried the hairdryer trick but no luck. It did say it could take a few tries but I'm not gonna try it again tonight.

There is a local independent game shop nearby that does repairs so I'll take it in for an estimate.

Do you have any other non-soldering suggestions?

    Thanks.....

Oh and obviously way past warranty and if I paid sony I wouldn't get my harddrive back intact which is what I want as i don't have a backup.

well I decided to give up on the old one and bought a used slim 160.

I only really had one game that I regret losing the data on - tales of graces f. I never did finish the little queen final battle.

Now that I think of it I was still in the middle of tales of xillia 1 but I wasn't very far along on it anyway.

Also I was finishing the last few side missions on assassins creed 4 but I figured that was an acceptable loss.

So I have a ps3 again and I will start backing up - I promise!
