Had the side of my computer open and happen to touch my AO3 burner while it was burning , this thing gets way hot when burning ,much hotter than my hard drives. Especially concerned when it is burning one of those generic medias (longer to burn at 1x) anyone using one of those hard drive coolers that sit on the drive, think it needs it?

Yes it does get very warm. I have a full tower case though and the writer is out of the way of the hard drives and motherboard. The discs themselves are pretty warm when ejected, guess thats why it's called burning

If you're really worried about cooling, you might want to look into this Supermicro case...

That's what I have and it comes in VERY handy being able to put cooling across the 5.25" drive bays. My Pioneer DVR-104 is right next to my Plextor CDRW drive and neither of them get anything more than slightly warm. -
Kpic,
I used a huge heatsink 2 fan combo that blows cool under the entire bottom accross the heatsink. This solved all of my heat related coaster issues as my A03 is in a mid atx case chock full of drives and what not. It cost me 30 but consiering how much I'll save on coaster it was a fair price.
