Cable signal to rf

I have an old (really old) Olevia tv which needs a cable box to view hi-def channels. As is I can only view the low (480 res) stations. (all are gutter-boxed) Watching dvds is ok, I input to dvi (no hdmi here!). Its in a back room & I dont watch it too much. (I have a BIG newer Olevia in the living room, old also, but not as, my main tv/video watcher). I dont have a cable converter box, just feed signal into the tv. I do not watch much tv, news mostly, I like movies. I bought a 'HomeworX' digital converter box which has hdmi out, also component & composite outs. It is intended for antenna input & works well there. I upgraded firmware & it recognises cable channels but does not play them. I am NOT trying to cheat the cable company, however they block various channels, I still get a lot more than I pay for, but, I dont watch 'em, anyway. I used to watch 'Food' channel, but that was it, cant anymore.

Is there something I can do to be able to watch these higher res channels through this box?

(Antenna stations work fine, HD, a lot of them, but nothing I am interested in)

If you have the HomeWorX 150 box with the cable software installed, it will only receive channels that are digital and in the clear. Your cable company should be supplying local HD stations in the clear but you're not interested in them.

Just today, our cable company (Charter) switched to all digital channels. Without their box, you can't get anything. Even TV's with a QAM tuner don't work. They do supply 1 free cable box for 1 year.

I believe other cable companys will follow soon with their own boxes. If you have cable then you'll need their box.
