I'm relitively new to the video capturing world, unless you count the failures I had 7 years ago with a $600 capture card for a P65 computer. Today I have a Sony Vaio P4 1.5Ghz 256Mb computer, and I'm trying to decide between a Dazzle DVC II or a Dazzle Hollywood DV-Bridge. My computer has a FireWire port on the front (That I discovered today). I've read up on the various formats, MPEG-(1,2,4) and DV. I cant find any solid need for the DV-Bridge, since I already have a FireWire port, but the DVC II doesn't have refrences to be able to capture in DV format, which I've read is the best format to edit captured video in. (That or Dazzle is doing a good job of selling me.) Having an analog Camcorder doesn't help either.
I intend to use either the included software or Adobe Premiere to edit the video in. I've downloaded TWNH for the file compatibility issue I've read in these forums about using Premiere. My pruposes include capturing and digitally editing VHS tapes of home recordings and record the final editing back to VHS, and converting VHS Tapes (home and recorded movies) to CD. If anyone could help me decide which one to get, or suggest a product I dont know about, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.
