My question is... if I burn some vcd's, and I use PAL format, are they playable on NTSC dvd players and televisions in the US. I'm living in Europe right now, and in a year or so I'll be moving back to the states. I just want to make sure my vcd collection will be okay to watch.
Would it be better to burn PAL or NTSC?

Depends on the player, sometimes NTSC players will play PAL encoded movies in black and white only. I would recommend burning them to PAL then just re-encode them when you move

You might be better off using NTSC (24or 30 frames depending). As far as I know most TVs in Europe will accept NTSC and I'm sure most DVD players have the ability to output NTSC as well.
Or as the above poster said, you could just use PAL and then reencode later in the US.
I don't think most US equipment handles PAL, so I would personally go with my first suggestion and encode NTSC.
