I am new here. I would like to buy a video converter to handle my daily task.
The tools I used before is Any Video Converter but it is not so stable. I searched some threads in the forum and there are lots of video converter tools which seems good. A few friends suggest to use Total Video Converter. What do you think?
I need it to convert lots of HD video to different formats under Windows 7. It is my daily job. I hope the tool is stable and the conversation speed is quick.
Could you suggest some? thanks a lot.

Are you talking about http://www.effectmatrix.com/total-video-converter/index.htm ? It hasn't been update for a long time now.
I only use free converters like vidcoder, handbrake, xmedia recode, xvid4psp and megui. -
yes, it is Total Video Converter http://www.effectmatrix.com/total-video-converter/index.htm. My friends said they have used it for several years.
Thanks for your suggestions, Baldrick and dflisher052. I will give all of them a shot.
Nice to meet all of you here -
It is time to make conclusion after using them for about one month.
Finally, I chose Total Video Converter which is perfect for converting YouTube FLV files to AVI - MP4!
A number of products claim to convert FLV files to AVI - MP4, which is essential if you want to save YouTube videos in a format compatible with Windows Media Player. Unfortunately, these products either can't deliver, or they are more trouble than they are worth.
Total Video Converter lives up to its claim - it really does convert FLV to AVI-MP4 quickly and easily!
TVC should be a very good software, though there are some flaws, in regards to sound after conversion sometimes.
About handbrake: It came with a virus detected by Avast. I cleaned and tried it again and again it came wit a virus verified by Adaware.
Format Factory: there are a lot of other ads bundling the software which I don't like.
I didn't download all other free tools to have a trial to be afraid of ads or virus which are annoying. So I paid for Total Video Converter after free trial.
Thanks again for all your advices. You are so helpful. -
The version I got was 3.71. It worked well in my Windows 7 currently. I encountered some problems at the beginning and I got supports from them in a timely manner.
From where I can see how long it hasn't been updated? I ordered it from the official website. Hopefully they will continue on develpement since I personally think it is really a helpful tool. -

I am sorry to post the same content two times by mistake but I can't find where to delete the duplicate one. I am really stupy.

That sounds bad. It probably ruins the quality. FLV is only a container, there is no need to convert and reencode it.
Most FLV are h264/aac. The proper way is to remux the flv to the desired container, like mp4 or mkv. This will preserve the quality by not doing the unnecessary reencode. -
Take note of this, welcometo. Most likely, the *.FLV file will contain some sort of h264 video with either aac, ac3, or mp3 audio, easily ascertained by opening it first with MediaInfo. To convert to *.MP4 (that is, to rewrap the *.FLV-containered file with an *.MP4 container), you merely have to install the newest version of free vlc, then media>convert/save... In convert/save settings, there are tabs for choosing how your original audio and video files should be treated, including using the original forms it came in and just rewrapping to the desired container, which duly means no re-encoding takes place (and new file will look just as good as, or as wretched, as the original). vlc is highly-regarded freeware that is administered by conscientious people who prevent it from becoming malware-infested as much as their powers allow them to.
That Total Video Converter "really does convert FLV to AVI-MP4 quickly and easily!" is good, but all it may be doing is exactly what vlc is. You didn't nearly have to pay for that. For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i". -
if that flv is just H.264 and AAC from Youtube, just try to drop that flv onto"flv to mp4.BAT" and it should remux that flv into mp4
it uses ffmpeg like this:
ffmpeg -i input.flv -vcodec copy -acodec copy out.mp4 -
welcometo,
There is nothing exists so called "the best",
Anything that serves your purpose is good enough. -
turk690 & _Al_, you are really an expert at the point. I have little knowledge of computer so ... I just found the one which is easy to complete what I want to do, so I pay for it.
As enim said, no "the best". The one serves my purpose is good enough. I believe that the video tool deserved my investment because it saved me time and effort to do more other tasks within my skills.
One's choice is limited by one's knowledge. Sometimes i think why the Total Video Converter is popular within my friends circles. Maybe the simplicity but full featured function is one possible reason.
So nice to meet of all you here. I learned a lot from you. -

After reading your comments on Handbrake, I just did quick on-line scan not only for HandBrake but other video+audio tools hosted on-line, Virus Scanner popped up with PUA.Win32.Packer.InterplaysMveFi for majority of recent versions.
FYI "HandBrake-0.9.9-1-Win_GUI.exe" hosted here on VideoHelp is exactly same as (handbrake.fr) author's site.
You have to only worry about such things only if you are concerned with them by any means. Let me tell you about myself, The kernel of my OS itself is hacked, there are tons of un-wanted processes running in background, plus my OS is bundled with at-least 166 or more (i lost the count) un-wanted / unnecessary packages. Every package I installed has a silent back-door pre-installed. On top of this I do not have firewall or anti-virus installed.
How can I think about absolute privacy to FuSS someone in a public wash-room?
Do you think I am worried? Not at all! They are Happy, I am Happy too.
Use only those softwares that you personally feel GooD -n- CLEAN.Last edited by enim; 13th Feb 2014 at 02:51.
