I'm currently in the process of ripping my entire DVD collection (approx 200) in order to put on my NAS for streaming to my TV and other devices. I've not actually encoded anything yet, I've just been ripping. My plan is to batch convert at a later date.
I currently have all my BluRay rips in MKV and they stream fine to my TV, so was thinking on doing the same for my DVDs. My question is, what is the best software for encoding to MKV? Is it Handbrake? I want to keep the quality good (original resolution) and am ok with the files being 1GB (but no more). Is there a good walkthrough available that tells you all the settings etc in Handbrake?
Cheers
