    Im just following the newbie guide for ripping a dvd to Divx but when i download DVDx 1.8a, i run it and it says about a problem in DSOUND.dll, any1 else got this problem?

    Not I. Have tried it for making SVCDs but found the quality wasn't as good as DVD2SVCD.

    not that problem but on that says the panosonic pluggin is fauly so i got no joy either

    The quality of the DVD2SVCD is up to your extern encoder. Use the same extern encoder with DVDx.
