Can anybody tell me if there is any software out there that is capable of replacing the rubbish DVC 3.62 and Moviestar.
at the same time using its internal hardware encoder.

It is unable to capture real-time VCD compliant files. (I have a Pioneer DV-636D DVD Player)

Symptoms on DVD Player: NO Video, Sound is ok but plays for 5 seconds then repeats about 5 times then goes onto next track.

I've used the built in VCD template and even tried using custom settings like manually entering 1150000 bit rate and 224kbps audio.

It plays on PC but not on DVD Player.

I don't want to recompress the clip and degrade it any furthur.

Custom made menus made using MediaStudio Pro 6 and compressed using its VCD template play fine.

All the Burning programs recognise the file as a compliant VCD file, apart from EASY CD CREATOR 5, which displays an explanation mark next to the clock reference.

I want to capture MPEG-1 VCD Compliant Files realtime.

I've tried VirtualDub and other capture programs but there are too many dropframes, and it envolves using a software compressor which I don't want.

P.S. I've tried (TMPGENC) de-muxing the file and re-muxing it with the VideoCD option but still no luck.

I have a Dazzle DVC I (USB version) and use DVC 3.62 software for all of my captures. Using the default VCD template, I have always successfully captured VCD compliant video that was subsequently burned onto discs that would play fine on standalone DVD players.

I have a Pioneer DV-434 (an awesome player!) and my discs (both on CDR and CDRW media) play flawlessly.

Have you tried playing the suspect discs on other brand DVD players?

It might be your player that is having the problem.
    Hope this helps.

Today I tested bitrates of 2000 and 2500 on my DVC1 with software 3.62 using Movie mode and at the same audio rate as is used in Dale VCD mode. Encoded using Tmpgenc - not forgetting to change the bitrate to 2000 or 2500! - and the VCD played fine on my Panasonic RV31. I still see artifacts though on high contrast edges . Using Noise reduction in Tmpgenc doesn't improve much if any. Is this a Dazzle effect? Does it improve in DVCII?
