  1. I've just tried to make a backup copy of "Help I'm A Fish" (R2) and have found that it will not play in standalones. My Aiwa tells me to check the region selection.

While preparing the backup I used ifoedit to remove all region protection and then I went through each ifo file in turn, where I found further protection on the PGC - pre commands. They had some stuff that said "if .... then break" - changed this to NOP.

HELP! Where else can the region protection be?

  3. No I'm in Europe, so my AIWA standalone is R2 therefore it should play a treat

My computer DVD-ROM drive is RPC-1 patched and I cannot get ifoedit DVDplayer to play the backup copy of the movie, although it will play the original. When you load the video ifo file it shows that there is no information present in the file, hence there is not code to execute the playing of menus and movie! How can this be? I also have an unpatched DVD_ROM drive in another system and it is the same.

What other ways are there to do region protection on disks apart from the traditional video ifo region flags stuff.

I just hope this is not some new fancy copy protection!

  4. what program did you use to rip the disc? despite the fact that you may have a region free dvd drive doing a "copy' and paste with thefiles will not remove the region codes, something like smart ripper when it copies the files takes care of whatever file making it copy and region free. hope this helps

  5. it's easy to screw up the video_ts file in ifo edit, so when i ripp i make 2 copies and ifo edit one in case i screw up, once it checks out in power dvd then i burn to final
