The animation part is done typically in something like after effects, where the text animation follows a motion path

Search for "text animation, after effects , ribbon text, motion path" - those types of key words. There are many tutorials out there

Then you export it with alpha channel (transparency) , and the logo/animated watermark can be overlayed onto any video

It can also be done in 3d type programs, like blender , c4d, 3dsmax, maya, but those are probably overkill for this

I think it should be mentioned that it's ugly as hell, very distracting, and ruins the real video underneath.

It's also funny that there seems to be a logo or something blurred out already in the lower right hand corner.

Hehe, you're right. A logo had been removed once already and he wants to put a worse one back in it. Maybe it's a different video he wants to deface, one that didn't have a logo on it already.

It's funny that the guy who put the crappy torrents logo on it had first removed the logo put there by the real copyright owner. The Indian people see so many of these damned logos in their TV shows and DVDs they get the idea it's OK to put them on. It's not OK.
