Grateful for any assistance to unlock Panasonic SR24 from Region 2 to allow also the runniing of Region1 DVDs gifted to me from US relatives.

According to Google a Panasonic SR24 is a turntable.
The easiest way out is to make backup copies of the discs. The copies will be region free. Hacks for DVD players are hard to find these days....Blu Ray players are damn near impossible. -
RPC1.org knows the following Matshita (Panasonic) optical drives with “SR” in the model name:
SR-8173, SR-8174, SR-8175, SR-8176, SR-8184, SR-8185, SR-8186, SR-8187, SR-8583, SR-8584A, SR-8585, SR-8585F, SR-8586, SR-8587, SR-8588.
All those have firmware files dated 2005-07-13. That is a long time ago. -
I'm moving you to our dvd player section as I guess you mean a standalone/desktop player?
