Skydrive comes with Windows 8.1 and and can’t be uninstalled.
I admit that I use Skydrive on Win 7 but I think some people don't use it and will probably feel intimidated when they see it on win 8.1. Maybe they will have the option to op out?

I generally don't use the 'cloud' for storage. The only cloud storage I use is the minimum storage I buy from amazon. However this is strictly for family photos in case of a total computer melt down that includes my multiple redundant harddrive backups and disc backups and original memory cards.
Yes I know I'm probably being a bit paranoid for the family pictures. However part of it has to do with the fact that I haven't printed every single picture I've taken. if I had I might not be so protective of the digital files. Of course I'd still back them up of course but maybe not in such an extreme manner.
I didn't even know microsoft had a cloud storage option. Is this skydrive accessible on all windows or just 7 and up?Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
Cloud is just a snazzy way to start implementing "server-side computing". It's an old concept from the 90's.
It's more efficient to keep the software online, and just let you keep your data locally. Supposedly bugs would disappear because you only have a virtual machine locally.
The delay in fully implementing this is the cost and speed of future internet service, and how much the government is going to subsidize poor people. What they do now for utilities, is charge those with higher incomes at a higher rate and use the extra money to service the poor for free. Same for food, water, trash, electricity.
Yes, in the future, bums will have free cell phones.
Once the cloud is fully functional, then comes the brain chips. To connect to the Borg without use of any hardware. The line between your thoughts and the thoughts of others will become blurry, then indistinguishable.
By this time, artificial body parts will be widely available and humans will become hybrids, and live much longer.
Then the finale will be a total machine body that offers immortality, but at a cost to personality. Personalities will disappear in favor of groupthink and order, so that we can make the transition to living on other planets.
Once we populate the universe we'll figure out how to travel to different universes before this one expands into darkness and death, or we'll learn how to live like cockroaches, with antenna, and maybe no eyes.
All the current problems will be solved and we'll just become a giant brain in the ultimate cloud. Our existence will be merely to keep the Cloud alive.
So you see why so many people are reluctant to install and use the Cloud. Maybe they're the smart ones.
