  1. I get an unspecified error when trying to watch an R4 DVD on MPC-HC:

Playback continues with a few pop-ups for every video. Once I get to the main video it pops up three more times then doesn't nag me again, but I'd like to fix whatever is causing me to get the error.

I'm running KLP 9.8.5, MPC-HC 1.6.7.7036. If you need any specific information, please let me know.

Are you playing a ripped disc or the actual physical disc itself? Try ripping it to your harddrive and then see if you get the same issue when playing the video_ts folder.

I don't have an error code list for mpchc but I'm sure there is one on the internet somewhere. Just google the error message and you should get what you need.

If you are playing from a disc could the disc be dirty or scratched? Does it play properly on a settop player? - although if its a different region you may not have a settop player that can play it. You could rip it to region free and burn it to another disc to test it on a player that might play back other region discs. Wouldn't hurt to try - you could use a rw disc for the test.

Also as another troubleshooting avenue try reinstalling mpchc. You never know..

Edit - also try playing with vlc instead and see if that works.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Physical disc, it's new, and I unfortunately don't have a DVD/Blu-ray player that can play other region discs or any DL DVDs handy to burn and test. Plays fine on PowerDVD and VLC, I'm just preferential to MPC. As for the error, I get the pop-up in the screenshot and nothing more.

I'll see how ripping it goes tomorrow, thanks for the help.

  4. I can play from the folder without issue. I haven't tested it with a fresh install of MPC just yet.

  5. Try the portable build of MPC-BE. It wont interfere with any codecs or installations you already have.

Same error, except it doesn't stop happening.

I've been having a problem with playing MP4 files lately while using the newest build of MPC-HC which looks almost identical to the MadVR version that gave me all kinds of problems. I installed the MPC-BE version last night and my MP4 problems went away. I had never had these MP4 problems before until installing the newest version of MPC-HC.

What I really about the MPC-BE is that you can seek through an FLV file or a cam site capture without it locking up the player like MPC-HC does.
