I want to use xvidpsp to hardcode subtitles into a MKV file.. figured that out... but after it re-encodes it to mpg2 format that i choose (for DVD NTSC) how do i burn this without re-encoding again? Currently i would take that mpg2 it creates and use convertxdvd, but that will lose more quality right? cant i just take the mpg2 and author it to dvd somehow without more encoding? i just want to burn this to dvd.. whats the best quality wise way and fastest obviously?

If you don't need menus, the free version of muxman is simple to use. You can find a guide on how to use it. It does require that your video and audio be in separate files though as inputs for it.

i dont need menus.. and xvidpsp doesnt seperate the video/audio.. its just one mpg2 file from what i think, so i guess i cant use that? waiting for xvidpsp to finish the 4hr encode now (mkv to mpg2) and then will test dvdstyler as that was freeware too. just hope it doesnt re-encode the mpg2.

AVStoDVD will let dvd video compliant streams pass through without re-encoding them. You can make a menu if you'd like in this program, but not necessary. And it will accept mpeg files as input.
