VIDEO_TS means DVD which means you want to upconvert 720x480 to 1366x768. I am curious as to why you wish to do this and why you seemingly believe that doing so won't involve a very noticeable quality loss.

"One swell poop"??? For your sake, I hope you know that's NOT how the saying goes and that's just a very bad pun.

For dvd let the dvd player or bluray player do the upconverting. If its a dvd player with hdmi set it to 1080i (you can do good upconverting with component as well). If its a bluray player set it to 1080i and it will do the same thing auto adjust to the tv.

    Don't bother reencoding dvd video.

  7. That's a new one on me. Is this for the install or the conversion?
It normally installs as any other program (decline any toolbars or offerings). Once installed select 'DVD' from top menu, select the dvd folder you wish to convert. It will create a batch item in the main window. Click on it once to highlight it and click 'to AVI' thumbnail at the bottom of the program window (Looks like a clapper board). A popup will appear which says ' AVI output parameters'. Click the 'cog shaped' button to edit the preset...you will create a custom preset. In future you simply load the DVD folder you want to convert, click 'to AVI' and click on this custom preset for each DVD you wish to convert. Simple as that.

DVDs are already scaled to your TV set's resolution. Maybe some have black bars on the sides and others above and below. Do you want to do this to get rid of the black bars, even if it means wrecking the aspect ratio?

manono is right. There is no advantage to doing this, unless you simply want to create AVI files instead of DVD folders or save a bit of space. Conversion, particularly upscaled conversion reduces the quality. Altering the frame size will either distort the image or crop some of the image away forever.

Freemake can do this for you. Once you get to the AVI preset editor you will see a button which says 'Adjustment'.
The options are there. If you leave it set to original it will upscale in proportion and pad it with black bars to suit.
I suggest leaving it alone. There is an old saying: 'Just because you can, doesn't mean you should'.
