SRT is plain text, PGS is a timed sequence of images (compressed bitmaps).

Yeah, kind of like the difference between THIS:
Code:[.........................] [.........................] [.....MY_TEXT_HERE........] [.........................] [.........................]
and THIS:
(graphic-based subtitle)

Ok ...... I got that
and what are SDH subtitles ?
How's that different from SRT ? -
Subtitles for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired includes description of sound effects in the subtitles like "music playing" ,"door opens" etc
SONY 75" Full array 200Hz LED TV, Yamaha A1070 amp, Zidoo UHD3000, BeyonWiz PVR V2 (Enigma2 clone), Chromecast, Windows 11 Professional, QNAP NAS TS851 -
SRT is a text based codec, which is in a completely different realm to SDH and non-SDH subtitles, which basically describes the content of the subtitles whether the subtitles be SRT, PGS or VobSub. SDH is more an extension of the Language (to include other sounds) then a type of subtitle.
