Man there goes a great lineage in the history of video games.

My main memory of LucasArts is of course the stellar (no pun intended) X-WING game and spinoffs. But I fondly remember the ORIGINAL floppy disk version on DOS. Them were the days

Apparently the story sites Lucasfilm was looking to ax the division before Disney picked them up. I'm not sure how accurate that can be.

However is this a chance XWING might someday live again and be re-born in glorious HD????? I can dream can't I???

And i didn't see that Disney canceled CLONE WARS the cartoon series. Not that I watched it. No seriously I didn't. I do have the movie of course but I was not a devout follower of the show. I didn't dislike I of course saw a little of it.

My boy and I are still pining for SWBF3.
He's now eleven and took your news with a small sense of panic.
tgpo, my real dad, told me to make a maximum of 5,806 posts on vcdhelp.com in one lifetime. So I have.

    Welcome back.

It took me a minute to translate your shorthand there - Star Wars Battlefront 3 if I'm not mistaken is it?

Well maybe with the upcoming third trilogy maybe they'll be more demand for STar Wars games and they'll push any product . One could only hope

What really makes me mad, is they had games released in the arcades, on arcade standup machines, that they still have not released for home consoles or PC!!!!!

Not long ago they finally got it to work on a PC emulator, but with the power of today's consoles & PC's, surely they could have re-released it and made a ton of $$$!!!

I actually have the "supermodel" emulator and...
Well, it would just be nice if they would or will release it officially for a home console or as a PC game!!
Without having to use a keyboard and have to do a bunch of setting tweaks....

It would be super killer sweet to play this on a large screen HDTV!!!!

@noahtuck - simple - tell disney you'll pay 500.00 for a complete star wars cabinet with every arcade game in it. If they get enough responses like that they'll make it.

Sadly money talks in the game world and if they don't think anyone will buy it it will just sit in the dungeons of some corporation forever.

I am still waiting for a US release of Godzilla Returns/1985 and I don't think it will ever happen. I'll have to live with the version that I have acquired.

    Ummm.... no.
I am taking about ONE game!!

That game is from quite some time ago in the Arcades in the form of a large standup machine.

My point is, Consoles and PC's have FAR surpassed the power of standup arcade machines from 10, 20, years ago!!

It should not be a problem to release the same game for home PC or Console!!

After all the SW games they have released over the years, tell me you would not be the first in line ( I would be right behind you, LOL!) to buy an actual copy of a GOOD game that plays across the original trilogy!!

A $500.00 cabinet that weighs 300 pounds sold to a small market of people willing to deal with it, or the game ported over to DVD or BluRay for $60.00 a pop to BILLIONS!!!!!!!!

With the millions if not billions of SW geeks across the world, they could not lose!!!
I mean, how many generations of star wars dorks are there now ?!?!?!
    LOL!!

    It's already coded!!
They just need to port it over!!

How old am I? Back in high school, I used to spend lots of the weekends and summers at the house of a friend who had an Intellivision and an Atari 800 computer. One of our favorite games was an early Lucas game called Ballblazer, which was one of very few games that could actually make you break a sweat playing it. Unbelievable speed and smoothness to the action.

I didn't read the whole article but apparently there will be a major Star Wars announcement this summer.

    Wonder what it could be?

I saw these this morning, don't know if you saw them but I figured I would post them here....

Disney Uses The Force: New ‘Star Wars’ Movies Annually Starting in 2015
    http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-talk/disney-uses-force-star-wars-movies-annually-s...tml?.tsrc=vmus

While it's well known that "Star Wars: Episode VII" is in the works and poised for release in the summer of 2015, Disney is saying after that, fans can expect a new "Star Wars" movie every summer for at least five years, with installments in the official series alternating with stand-alone films that will focus on well-loved characters in the "Star Wars" universe
And Harrison Ford was on Jimmy Kimmel, the vid is pretty funny...

Ford was asked about his upcoming role in "Star Wars" as an older and presumably wiser Han Solo.

A movie every year? And "stand alone" movies?

I think thats a bit of an overkill even for something you like. They complain about that with video games. Too many Assassins creed and Modern Warfare.

Though i like all or at least most of the Assassins Creed games.
