I have a hauppauge wintv-hvr-2250 TV tuner in my computer which I use to record whole over the air broadcasts TV program series with Windows media Center. I've been thinking of upgrading my computer since recording in its native MPEG format creates very large files which takes a lot of memory space to archive. I was planning to upgrade my computer to enable me to use VideoReDo TVSuite V4 to transcode (with reasonable speed) my programs to a small file size. However I have been reading on the web there may be alternatives to Windows media Center to record whole TV series, with one click, and that these alternative programs may be able to record in other codecs is then MPEG. Are there other programs then Windows media Center that let you record an entire TV series with one click and if so can these programs recorded in a more compact memory format then the large file size mpegs. And also can be utilized timecode synchronization of video and sound which recording in the MPEG codec affords you with Windows media Center?
