I have a disk with mpeg videos that comes with a textbook that I use to teach English. I want to make a dvd that includes these video files along with some filmed footage of a puppet - the puppet is going to be the "host" of showing these mpeg files, as well as some footage made from a program like this: http://download.cnet.com/Pivot-Stickfigure-Animator/3000-2186_4-52544.html?tag=lst--1 This program can make animated stick figures. Can these three kinds of files be combined? If so, are there any shortcuts or secrets in making this a smooth operation?

It's probably easiest to combine everything in an complete authoring tool with some editing functions like tmpgenc authoring works. Free trial to test.
If it's too limited you might have to use a real video editor like videostudio pro, sony vegas moviestudio, etc.
