Ok here is what I would like to do. I want to backup Snatch to a SVCD and have the much needed pikey subtitles for when Brad Pitt talks. I have never done anything with subtitles and would like to know how to do this. Thanks

  5. o heh...i assumed you already knew how to make a dvd rip..but just w/o the subs...okie

the easiest way to rip dvd is to use sefy's new guide at:

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdtovcd.htm

then u can follow the links i posted previously to add subs to the rip

  6. Or you can use the latest version of the guide here:
    http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/articles/dvdtovcd/index.htm
and this way you can pick which programs you want to be using and what features

  8. That's exactly what the guide explains, on how to do a VCD/SVCD with subs, you can do it using VirtualDub/DVDx/FlaskMPEG, just follow the guide

I tried to follow the guide but I am lost when he talks about VirtualDub and then using another program to do the incoding. I get to the frameserving and then I dont know what to do from there. With out the subs I know and doing just what it says to do.

  10. Well, basicly after you start the Frameserving with VirtualDub, all you need to do is use that "file" in any encode you want.

Try following it in my own guide:

A version of the DVD actually comes with a pikey subs track.

    See:
Wikipedia | Snatch | DVD Releases
On 17 September 2002, Sony released a "Deluxe Collection" set in the company's superbit format. This release contained two discs, one being the special features disc of the original DVD release, and the other a superbit version of the feature. As is the case with superbit presentations, the disc was absent of the additional features included in the original standard DVD, such as the audio commentary. (The disc did still contain subtitles in eight different languages including a "pikey" track, which only showed subtitles for the character Mickey.)
This is the version I currently own.

Funny you should say that, because there's a few lines where the subtitles simply state '????' for Brad Pitt's lines. Some (including myself) believe that he was ad-libbing those bits.

switchbladeshoes - After 11 years, NOBODY here cares anymore. NOBODY. Anybody who cared long ago figured out your answer.

I'm sure you'll be a typical "one post wonder" who never posts again, but if by some miracle you do decide to stay here, next time check how old the threads are before you comment. Generally speaking, if it's over 6 months old just leave it alone. Our forum rules ask you not to grave dig these old threads.

This is the 2nd example we've had today of 10+ year old thread grave digging.
