  1. When converting a DVD to MKV, should I have a 5.1 and 2.0 track? Or just the 5.1?

If I just choose 5.1 wont the sound be down mixed to 2.0 when played on 2.0 speakers and sound the same as the 2.0 track? Or is it better to have the 2.0 track to play through 2.0 speakers?

  2. Quality wise it mainly is a question how good the down/up mix on your system during playback is. (personally I would stick to the 5.1 and drop the 2.0 stream)

  3. Yeah think I will go with just 5.1. Would I have to change the track manually if I had both? Would probably depend on what I was playing it on right?

  4. Yup, which audio stream is played as default is normally the choice of the player. (most tend to use the 1st audio stream unless they are configured to do otherwise, e.g. select the audio stream with a specific language)
