Yep finally finished my hd-dvd replacement project. I just ordered the first Harry Potter movie on Bluray used for just over 6.00 on amazon.

So now I'll retire my xbox 360 hd-dvd drive. I wont' get rid of it because it is a perfectly good usb dvd drive. I just won't need it for hd-dvds now. Too bad its not a dvd burner but anyway.

Here were the movies I had on hd-dvd -

    Transformers 1
    The Matrix Trilogy
The Mummy (Brendan Fraser version - the first one)
    Superman Returns
    Batman Begins
    Harry Potter 1

So now I'm done with HD-DVD.

I still have the discs and I haven't even watched them in a long time. Most I already had on dvd.

I'm not sure I'm even going to bother to even try to sell them. I don't know if its worth the hassle. I haven't checked ebay to see what the hd-dvds are going for.

And unfortunately even if I could get a few bucks for the Matrix trilogy the Reloaded (2nd one) disc doesn't even work. It won't even work when the xbox hd-dvd drive is connected to the computer. (all originally purchased new - I remember searching the net for it and others had a similar problem but since I had it on dvd I was just waiting till the blurays and finally got those awhile ago)

So I guess I'll just leave them in a box and forget hd-dvd even existed.

Anyone still have and use hd-dvd?
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  2. Some years ago I bought a LG GGW-H20L Blu-Ray burner/HD-DVD reader. Then I visited eBay and bought a number of HD-DVD titles for around $.99-$2.00 each with around $1.99 shipping and handling. I then ripped the discs and converted to MKV files with RipBot264 for use on my HTPC and media extenders.

I do basically the same thing when I buy Blu-Rays, so I've never felt the need to replace my HD-DVDs with Blu-Rays.
