I'm using VideoStudio X5 and find it cannot edit AVCHD at its native resolution - only much lower.

I believe VS5 can perform many edits to .AVI at 1920x1080 and output at that resolution using smart rendering. Haven't seen the results.

My goal is to edit clips and display the result to a group at the highest possible resolution. Would it make sense to first convert camcorder MP4 files (as losslessly as possible) to AVI, with a good conversion app, then edit AVIs in VS5?

BUt mp4 is not AVCHD? Or do you mean it can't edit mp4 in 1920x1080?

  3. Try MP4cam2AVI. It doesn't convert the video, it just changes the container format to AVI.

    Thanks I'll try it out!

May I ask, does it make sense to do the mp4 to avi conversion before editing, in order to end up with the highest quality result?

  5. Hi, I'm a newbie. I use MP4cam2AVI to open a .mp4 file, but it gives me "sacn line index out of range". What does it mean and how to solve it? Thanks in advance.
