Hi,
i recently installed Adobe AE and right after that, some videos on Youtube stopped playing the sound properly. This is an example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8iO9SmsPJw
most of the videos play just fine, but some ones like the one above dont and i cant hear anything no matter how much i increase the volume. I was able to hear them perfectly before installing AE so I guess is codec related but im not sure. I dont want to reinstall all the codecs because im afraid to break the working ones so i would like to know if there is a way to know what audio codec should i update or something.
Thank you.

It's unlikely to be AE's fault, as it has nothing to do with flash or browsers
Try installing the newest flash for your broswer -
I had already the newest, even so i reinstalled it but still, i cant hear it. The weird thing is that i can hear the first part of the video (the custom intro with the stars that was obviously added by the uploader) but not the rest of the video. Im pretty sure its a codec problem. Something got fucked up when i installed AE. Any other ideas?

Check your audio balance. The intro has audio on both the left and right channels. The main body only has audio on the left channel.

Or phase (cancellation with inverted?)...
Haven't checked out the clip yet.

You were right, it was the balance! i increased the left channel and that did the trick. Thanks! but i still dont get why did the balance got screwed up because i havent touched it and i was able to hear those videos before installing AE.

AE probably used the "default" sound device. Maybe it was coming out the headphone jack? Open your Windows sound mixer and you'll see what's going on.
And did you check if it was "muted"?
I've heard that AE roots into your media drivers and you can never disconnect it except by a clean Windows install. All the Adobe stuff has to use Windows via backdoor calls and such because it's not a native Windows application.
That's why it's sooooo sloooow on Windows, but faster on a Mac.
You might also check for phone-home TSR's using up precious ram. The tipoff to those is that a window will pop up every few days with a "special offer".
Hey, is that Dom Deluise ?Last edited by budwzr; 28th Sep 2012 at 18:36.

Its funny but im having problems to hear those videos again. The very first time i just moved the balace back and forth and it started to sound normally. Then some time later, the problem came back, i did the same and it got fixed. But now no matter what i do i cant get them to sound loud enough to hear them. Maybe AE fucked up my sound drivers?
