I have a few AVI clips in NTSC DV, interlaced format.
Whats the best way to deinterlace them and still have them look good?
Do I create a progressive project and import the footage into that, or do I create a project with the same settings as the AVI clips and then export deinterlaced AVIs?
(I have an option to use Premiere Pro CS3 or Vegas 9)...

Both have poor deinterlacers. It's best to leave your video interlaced and let your TV or media player deinterlace for you. Interlaced is the natural state for standard definition video.
If you really need to deinterlace, QTGMC in AviSynth is the current king.
