Whenever I previously tried capturing uncompressed avi I would drop frames like crazy 30 or so in the first 20 seconds. I used a handy program called HD Tach and noticed "Hey! This IDE controller on my mobo must not be ATA-100" Even though it said it on the box of the motherboard. So, I went to staples and found a PCI Matrox ATA-100 IDE controller for 30 bucks. Now I am capturing uncompressed avi with absolutely NO yes NO frames dropped!
Get yourself a PCI IDE controller and you should not have any more problems with frames being dropped as long as you have a decent drive and a decent cpu.
Good luck,
Mike
