Subtitle problem with vobsub

Hi guys
I use virtual dub to add permanent subs to an avi video.The subs are in .sub format so i use vobsub 2.23.But when i try to load the subtitle file to the vobsub nothing happens.Any ideas please?

Are they in IDX/SUB format (VobSubs in graphical format), or are they the text-based SUB format (open-able in Notepad)? If the text-based ones, use TextSub 2.23 rather than VobSub 2.23.

If the graphic-based VobSubs, you need both the IDX as well as the SUB.
