Have you ever experienced this?
I have just finished burning dvd in Adobe Encore to present what I made during the whole weekend.
Then, somehow dvd won't play. I got an error message, saying that the disk error.
It is not PAL, It is NTSC. I USED 16X 4.7GB 120MM DVD+R ON MAGNAVOX DVD recorder.
What a shame...I spent the entire weekend to figure out NTSC and Pal.
It is not even playing on my boss's laptop.
Can anyone give me some advice? What do I need to do to fix this problem?

You're joking, right? How should we know? Does it play on the computer, like when using a software DVD player such as PowerDVD? Not with the disc in the drive, but the VIDEO_TS folder on the hard drive? If so, and it's a good DVD, then burn to disc using ImgBurn and try again.
I don't understand what you said about the DVD recorder. What were you using it for? -
We need a lot more information on what you did. The use of a DVD recorder seems nonsensical to us to create a DVD that you made in Encore. So you can either explain in a lot more detail exactly what you did or you're not serious about getting help.

Also to rule things out try burning to another disc. It could just be a bad disc. Burn the video_ts folder with the freeware program imgburn. That SHOULD work most of the time.
Edit - sorry looks like manono basically said the same thing - but its worth repeating until we get more detail on your project.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -

Sorry. I guess I was a little frustrated. Because my boss looks at me as if I am lying when we try to play the dvd on
16X 4.7GB 120MM DVD+R ON MAGNAVOX DVD recorder. I keep talking to myself, "it works on my machine!!!."
There are several variables here.
1. disk issue : what brand should I try?
2. user computers' codec : which codec would you recommend?
3. Encore's building process : Is there any tip or advice?
4. What else should I try? Any suggestion?
I am so glad that this discussion board is very active, and there are a lot of experts here. -
Again, you're not being clear. Does it play on your standalone DVD player? Does it play from your computer hard drive? If it plays from both, then it's a good DVD you made and the problem possibly relates to how you burned it to disc and/or the disc brand you used (and even possibly to your boss's DVD recorder).
I'd suggest first reburning it, this time using ImgBurn. Then try that on your boss's player. Maybe bring in your own player as a backup to prove to him the disc is good. There's a chance his doesn't play DVD+Rs. Maybe bring in a different DVD movie on DVD+R to test on his unit. Maybe he's never had a DVD+R used with his recorder before.
The usual recommendation for brand is a particular Verbatim. But I just use whatever my Costco has (Sony these days). -
Read my post again. Clearly you're not serious about getting help. I've got better things to do than wait for you to figure out that you still haven't bothered to say enough for anyone to help you.

I would try both types of discs. Also if its really old it might not like rw discs of any type. I believe rw disc were added later to the specs - they might not be recognizable on some players - just throwing it out there don't know for sure on that one.
Try to rule out as many possibilities as you can.
In a pinch what is the viewing environment going to be? If this is for an event you could bring the player that you know works and just go with that - make sure that your player has all the video connections that you need first though.
And if it is just going to be a one time viewing you could do the same thing. If this is a permanent loan not a one time viewing than you will have to dig deeper to work out the kinks.
Plus you could check with your recepient if they have a different dvd player they could test it with.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
