Well I do think this is a cool player but I have had some issues with it.

From time to time when I burn VCDs (nero, panasonic encoder) the player would either freeze for 2 seconds and the picture during those 2 seconds will look scrambled or it would just freeze with that scrambled picture and try to play with bumps (tck,.. tck,.. tck,... tck.. - but no playback once that happens). It usually happens on the same SPOT.

Also player does not see menu created with nero.

Besides the menus created with VCD toolkit will also not be seen.

I do have one professionaly made sample VCD which does play good (menus selections etc).

By the way what does PBC stand for and when should it be set to ON. ( I noticed that time doesn't show if it's set to on ).

    A!

  2. Hi,

I have DVD 714AT & am experiencing same freeze issues. Talked with tech support at Philips & they suggest calling 800-531-0039 to see if upgrade is available. Also check www.p4c.philips.com

PBC => Play Back Control: And must be "on" in order to see menus on VCD's

    Good luck

  3. Don't try that number (unless you like to be on hold). I was on hold for 30 mins then took 30mins to tell me there is no upgrade & I should look at www.vcdhelp.com or www.cdrinfo.com.

Very nice person, but information didn't help.
