    I purchased a Toshibia DVD Player SD4300KU.
Quite sure I hooked it up correctly to my TV.
However when I play DVD's they only play in Black & White.
Any ideas to correct are greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forums, but we need more info.

What kind of connection (composite, HDMI, component, etc.) do you have from the DVD player to the TV?
Do you have more than one connection from the DVD player to the TV? It's unlikely that anyone would do this deliberately, but I did it once just to have a place to put some cables I had been using for a VCR and the composite connection remained in black and white while the component was in color.
Did you check the DVD player setup menu to see if you have a video output option? If the video output is set to HDMI and you are using a different one in reality, the one you are using might be in black and white.
Are these DVDs from regions other than 1 and/or are they PAL format?
What kind of TV do you have? Old tube style standard definition CRT? LCD HDTV? Plasma HDTV?

S-video connections can also end up in black and white when one of the leads doesn't work. And more info would be very helpful.

  4. No S-video. Only 1 x Component video output ( RCA phono x 3 ) and 1 x Composite video output ( RCA phono ).

Hmm. Either the player or TV.

Test the TV with a different player.

Test the player on a different TV.

Thanks to everyones input. But right now my brain is fried. Tomorrow I will give further details and also tell you how I have the wires hooked up.

Since I've been fooling around with the wires I've gotten reception in color coming from the DVD.

After this when I switch to my WII console that reception comes in Black & white. So what I've been doing is disconnecting the 3 color wires from the back of the TV and pluging them into what I assume is component 2 on the TV in order to go back and view my DVD.

I've got three wires from the DVD to the my HDtv. The tv has HDMI however, there is no HDMI on the DVD player and no HDMI on the Wii console.

Bottom line I've got three wires from my Wii into the TV and three wires from the DVD into the TV.

I guess the six attached at the same time knocks things out. So I've been disconnecting the Wii and pluging in the DVD in order to view DVD's and visa versa in order to view the Wii.

    COLD BEER TIME.......................Again thanks
