    Any Assassins Creed fans here?

I just finished the main story thread on Revelations and finished watching the short story EMBERS video.

I definitely like it. I haven't done all the side missions yet. I'm at about 65% complete. And I haven't jumped into multiplayer yet either.

But I really like the story and the ending was nice. It continues the story and is done very well. The parachute sequence during the last mission sequence was a lot of fun and unexpected.

Are there any books you'd recommend to check out in the series? I saw theres a novel adaptation of the game. Is that just a retelling of the story with nothing new? Or is it deeper?

I did see somewhere there is an encyclopedia (official) or some such anthology available. Is it more that just a reference guide? Does it have more background in the story line?

I'll have to check out more on the series.

Only trouble with finishing the main arc is now I want AC3 out now! I can't wait for 2012!

FYI I have finished all of them ac 1, 2 brotherhood and now revelations. I have bloodlines on the psp but have barely played it. And I don't have a ds anymore so I can't play the ds game that I think they made.

Also I did pickup LINEAGE on bluray which was nice. I want to check out more of the background material they put it on too.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  2. I finished the first one but found it very repetitive and the ending was like... wtf?.
That is why I never played the second one

Revelations got better?, or is the same thing over and over again?.

It depends on what you're into.

Try the second one and give it a go. It is a bit of a different beast then the first one. There is more to do. Brotherhood and Revelations carry on the enhancements of ac2.

I for one loved all of em so far.

Yes the first one isn't perfect but it sets up the franchise well. Give 2 a try and see how you like it. If you don't like 2 then you won't like Brotherhood or Revelations as it sets the path for the others.

As for the ending its part of what makes assassins creed different. You're not given everything at once and it flows from one game to the next where you actually want to play the next one to figure out more of the story.

Edit - also you don't have to run away as often to get your awareness done. You do but not virtually everytime you complete a mission. In 2 and later that mechanic is limited but still present. The guards are aware of you but not on a hair trigger quite like 1.

And you might the blending stealth mode you can go in with the crowds. Its a little better in 2 and later as you can actually go in auto and be dragged along in cruise control with the crowd and you are in all whites to show you're in concealment.

Granted not everyone can appreciate the game for what it is. I understand that. I know there are games I'll never play just because I know I won't like it. But this is a great game at what it does.
