I have two xvid avi files. I want to delete sections of them. I have Koepi's xvid installed and opened the first avi in VirtualDub. I just can't seem to delete what I want though. Seeking for keyframes is all over the place. I haven't used VirtualDub in years but have been tearing my hair out tonight. I thought it might be the VBR audio so downloaded VirtualDub freeze but had the same problem.
If I find the keyframe at the start of the section I want to cut out it'll be back after I hit delete. Seeking seems to cause sections of the movie to repeat all over the place. I just can't describe it...it's like it has a mind of it's own.
Please please what am I doing wrong!![]()

Since it looks as if he'll have to re-encode,
what about frame serving the Xvid to Virtualdub via Avisynth ? -
If you are using VD, it also has a 'smart render' feature that can let you cut most anywhere and just re-encode at the cut point. AVIDemux seems to also have this feature. But if you have to do lots and lots of cuts, converting to a lossless format might be the better choice.
Frame serving won't help much. That's just to get your video into the editor. Works better with odd formats like RM or similar that VD doesn't accept natively. -
When the video is frame served to Virtualdub, you can cut it anywhere since every frame is a key frame.

Use Mpeg4Modifier to Remux the file with packed bitstream.
