pioneer dv-525 (region 0 probs) & jvc xv-ltr1

Can't get region 0 dvds to play on my pioneer dv-525.. any ideas?

Also, anyone have the jvc xv-ltr1 (dvd player with special edition lord of the rings stuff)? I couldn't find it on the compability list and was wondering what it can play.. CDR/W, DVDR/W, etc..

I received the JVC XV-LTR1 for christmas. I am going to burn some (X)(S)VCDs onto some CD-Rs and attempt to play them. I will post the results to the DVD Players compatibility list soon.

The manual only states that it should be able to play VCD as well as CD-R and CD-RW recorded with the Audio CD format.

Also, the manual states that DVD-R and DVD-RW are "Non-playable discs". But other JVC players with this same statement in their manuals do play them under certain conditions. I do not have a DVD burner, so I will not be able to check that out.
