I have some family videos i made a few years ago. i converted them from VHS to an AVI file
Im trying to play them now and all i get is sound and no picture which means i dont have the correct codex, so ive been looking around, i used the mediainfo program to find out what codec i need and it said the video codec is VXIS, ive been looking for the codec and cant find anything on it
Any help would be nice, thanks
Ben

Look, even if you CAN find a way to work with this codec, what you're doing is having to make do with something that very well might not be optimal (and that's as your "source").
I strongly recommend you go back to the VHS tapes and re-capture them to harddrive using a more standard and higher quality methodology. Like DV, MPEG2, Lagarith. Then, edit, composite, process, add effects, etc. and export a finished copy in your final distribution format (DVD-Video, DivX, h.264, in PS, TS, MP4, MKV, AVI, etc). Otherwise, you're wasting valuable time bending over backwards just trying to get back to square two. Going back to square one is much easier (unless you did the inconceivable and trashed your tapes!).

More likely story - you downloaded some videos that supposedly use the Vxis codec and you want to play them, but you lied to try to get help.
Less likely story - you actually did encode your videos this way. If so do tell us exactly how you did it. And explain exactly what you used because there sure isn't a lot of information about this codec beyond something like "never heard of it".
Nobody seems to know much about Vxis. Most likely it's just another way to trick you into installing a trojan horse on your computer.
I agree with Cornucopia's suggestions. You do need to understand that whether you lied or are actually telling the truth that the odds of you EVER playing these files successfully is very close to zero.
