  1. Hi..I have ripped DVD files that were sent to me ...And I believe something is terribly wrong .. I have played VTS_01_1.vob in VLC player and GOM player and I get completely different scenes and in VLC... flickering as if it had write protection when ripped......I have however loaded VTS_01_1.vob into Sony Vegas Music Studio and it appears to play perfectly.....with the scenes perfectly in order etc as I presume they should be ...
My question is..Should I render the files and somehow reauthor a completely new set of DVD files ....
and if so,what would be the procedure to do this....Please step by step as old age is not leaving me the brightest ....I presume I can use Sony Vegas Music Studio to render VTS_01_1.vob add other vob's to VTS_01_5.vob but what about the title vobs..IE Video_TS.vob and VTS_01_0.vob.... and how to rebuild everything?

I would be sincerely Grateful for any help...thanks HK

You open the VIDEO_TS.IFO file in a player....not a VOB file.

  3. Hi..Thanks for your reply..I had tried that using VLC Player but it just keeps repeating the Video_TS.VOB file......I have thought that VTS_01_1.VOB when loaded into a player like VLC or GOM will play ....HK

I meant a player like PowerDVD.

  5. Yes ..Well I cannot even navigate to VIDEO_TS.IFO file after installing PowerDVD ...but I managed to get Power DVD started and it is just doing EXACTLY what VLC and GOM players do ...they just repeat over and over what I know is Video_TS.VOB and VTS_01_0.VOB..HK

  9. My problem is that I have several other ripped DVD's on My computer ...I have no preblems with any of them its just this one ....Now I believe that the DVD will have to be re-created ...but I do not have the knowledge of how best to do this....EG can I join all the vob's together and use a program to recreate a DVD tree knowing that the vobs themselves have a problem with flickering ....can I load the joined or individual VOB's in Sony Vegas Music Studio and render them as DVD compliant Mpegs ..and check the resukt and if they are all OK ....then create a DVD...
All I would like to know is... DO This...(1)>(2)>(3)>(4) etc etc ..HK

Does it open in DVDShrink? If it was ripped correctly it should. If it does just re-author a new DVD.

  11. Hi..I directed DVD Shrink to the Video TS folder via open Files.....Now I highlighted the main folder EG DVD My Life as a Horse.....that has the Video_TS as a sub folder ...The DVD Tree opened...

    DVD_Mylife as a Horse
    Menus
    Main Movie
    Extras

When the tree opens the Main Movie folder is highlighted and if I click on the Arrow head it plays..But Should it not start at the beginning with menu and titles....?? However I then Highlighted with a single left click DVD My Life as a Horse
and clicked the play arrowhead...What I presume is the opening menu with the DVD Title... Chapter Select_ Play_ Setup_ Bonus Features ...played in a repeat mode till I clicked the Stop button....Does this Seem to be right...
Wait..having restarted it ....after 5 minutes repeating it has now changed to the Chapter scenes...and repeated it a few times and moved onto what I presume is a sub menu and now into the main movie....

I wonder if I should burn the files to disk and then see what happens....I have just closed DVD Shrink and will load it again and see if I get a smilar result....

Yes after about 20 repeats of the Main Title Menu it has now moved onto the chapters 1-6...7-12...13-18...19-24...25-30...and 31-32 moving through each cluster each one at a time..it has done about 5 repeats of that and has now moved into a sub menu without a repeat and I now have setup options...Subtitles_Commentary_Play_Main Menu.... and now I have Screen
Unique to Music On Mars DVD
When Possible we provide Complete illustrative clips.
However, when playing the main feature,we offer you the option to skip some of the archive and continue "the narrative".....
    Simply press "skip" or "Next"

And Finally the main Movie has started ....no flickering etc ...so my fears may have been unfounded...

So what do you think...Should I burn it to disk and see how the disk plays using PowerDVD or similar..

    Thanks HK

I have already done a re-author using DVD Shrink ...what I ended up with was files that looked like they had lost 50% of their original quality....HK

If you are burning to a dual layer DVD....set compression to "No Compression".

  14. Well the original DVD rip I have is 4.3gb ..I do not know what compression setting I did have when I re-authored the files ..I do recall it was round the original size when finished....I feel now I should burn the files to disk and see if it then plays like a normal DVD...HK

If your DVD was "single layer sized" when you loaded into DVDShrink....then DVDShrink did not transcode or recompress your video in any way.
