LG hr698D combo

About to buy the HR698D to couple with LG 47lw6500 TV and unsure If I should continue with it.
We have decided on the TV and I was keen to match makes to simplify operating the system. Sales person advised a Panasonic (her preference). Have a lot of respect for Panasonic, but the extra $100 and then trying to match with TV was an issue.
Can't find anything positive about the LG recorder and starting to get nervous.
Any advice most welcome.
I also have a Panasonic camera/video recorder and edit a lot of video.

Not really. Buying "best of breed" regardless of make is the best idea, but it's your money and your decision.

It makes sense and was actually the basis of my dilemma. Went against better instincts and now time to rethink.
Do you (or others) have any suggestions for a better unit?
Prefer a BD combo player/recorder (250gb more than enough), wifi, MPEG 2&4, DivX, AVCHD preferred. Audio not an issue.
Will want to extract and add data via the HDD - USB OK.
Greedy enough to covet other bells and whistles!
