    did you read your contract?

If this person is part of your household, you can set up a VPN.

i would like to congratulate you on demonstrating the single greatest lack of basic understanding of networking principles that i have seen in years.

    just too funny.

the title of your thread is "share my internet connection (like a proxy)" and in your first post you clearly say "I need to share my internet connection with a guy who is located in another town, so this would act like a proxy sort of", which tells me you have no idea what you're talking about.

sharing an internet connection is one thing, setting up your pc to act as a proxy server is another.

if you desire is to set up your pc as a proxy for him i don't see what you hope to gain, it's not like he's going to be able to download any faster than his internet connection will allow and in fact due to overhead it will decrease his download speed. you also open yourself up to all sorts of problems, if he decides to commit any illegal or quasi-illegal acts since to the outside world it will look like the connection is originating from your ip, if he decides to try hacking a website, port scanning web sites, download kiddie porn, it's all going to come back to you.

i would really like to know what you would like to do? do you actually think that by having your pc act like a proxy that somehow his connection will get faster?

  12. The goal is that he gets my Ip so he can watch videos only accessible with my provider. He's gonna develop a plugin for xbmc so he'll have to check if it's working or not. I've got a rather good upload speed so it should be ok.
Anyone has experience with Tor (server)

now we're getting somewhere, just a few more questions:

why are the videos only accessible with your provider? i have never heard of such a thing in a non-communist country (this wasn't meant as a joke), are you saying his isp actively blocks access to a website that streams certain videos? are you sure?

he has an active internet connection, which means that he is connected to his isp's network. from his isp's servers he then connects to the internet and accesses whatever web sites he desires.

now here's the rub, if an isp is actively blocking a website, a proxy won't do you much good because his computer will still go his_pc->isp's_network->proxy->website, if the block is at the isp level you can't get around that.

what a proxy allows you to do is make the target website think that the connection request originated from the proxy instead of the isp's network of which your pc is a member.

if you set up a virtual private network what you're basically doing to networking your pc and his pc over the internet but that still won't allow him to view the videos, what you would need to do is download the videos for him and put them in a folder that you share over the network and then he could access them from your computer, thus never visiting the blocked site himself at all.

but before i went through the trouble of setting up a vpn or pc anywhere or that sort of thing i would make damn sure that his isp is actually blocking the site in question.

Many services like ESPN3 are only available if your ISP (cable company) carries the TV channel (or at least pays a licensing fee).

Ie, they will only stream to IP addresses that belong to those ISPs.
