    Wow.

I knew the Lions were better this year. I knew they were good last week. I didn't think they were this good.

They actually came back from down 20 and won in overtime. And they did it in Minnesota where they haven't won since 1997.

I'll know the Lions have finally arrived when they beat the Packers in Green Bay. When they win there I'll believe they are a real team.

I have just been happy to have them be respectable instead of laughingstocks of the NFL. This is actually scary to have them be, gasp, feared??!!?!!?!?!

i believe they are for real, just like i believe the bills are for real. i knew the lions were going to be good when they picked up Ndamukong Suh; i had liked Stafford when they picked him up and i really think they have a solid competitive team.

can they beat the packers for the division? i really doubt it, after all i think a packers/patriots superbowl is the most likely outcome to this season but it wouldn't surprise me all that much, and it would make be happier than a pig in shit, if we saw a lions/bills superbowl.

as long as the jets keep losing, everything is alright with the world.

I'm not expecting a superbowl bid this year. I would be happy with 8-8. I'd be ecstatic with 9-7 or 10-6.

Right now I think they have a chance at splitting against Greenbay. I still don't think they'll beat them IN Green Bay. But a home win isn't impossible.

You should have heard the Detroit sports radio leading up to Suhs draft. One of the guys on the all sports station was so high on Suh he said his name dozens of times a week leading up to that draft.

But yeah hes a special one alright.

i was just looking over their schedule and here's how i see it going:

at Dallas - tough game, i think Romo may be out (he has a punctured lung) no Romo, Lions win.

hosting Bears, Mon night - Lions win in a romp.

hosting 49'ers possible trap game, close game, maybe a field goal, could go either way

hosting Falcons - another close game, i can see this one going to O/T, with either team winning.

at Denver - even though Denver has sucked these past few years, i still think they kill the Lions in Denver.

at Chicago - Bears get their revenge for Mon lose but in a closer game.

hosting Panthers - tough game, i think that kid Carolina picked up will have come into his own by then, a nail biter, possible lose.

hosting Packers, Thurs night - if this was a regular Thursday Green Bay would slaughter them by almost 3 touch downs, but Detroit is a tough place for a divisional rival on turkey day; Lions make believers out of skeptics in a memorable performance by both teams (bet the farm on the over).

at the Saints - Drew and company go ape shit in the first quarter, go up by 3+ touchdowns at the half, Lions make a valiant comeback but fall short by a touchdown.

hosting the Vikings - Lions kick their asses up and down the field.

at Oakland - Raiders have cat for lunch.

hosting Chargers - tough game, Chargers will be fighting for their playoff life, as will the Lions. i have no confidence in Rivers so i pick the Lions to send SD packing.

at Green Bay - tough way to close out the season and start the new year; a lot depends on how the first match up went and whether GB has home field throughout wrapped up (as i expect them to). if all of GB's starts play the home game then Detroit better hope they don't need this game to make the play offs.

i think 9-7 is very doable for this club with this schedule, with a couple of breaks i can see 10-6, i'll be very surprised if they don't end up with a wild card spot and maybe even pull off an upset against a favored opponent, but unless the entire team and coaching staff sells all their souls to the Devil and through in a few hummers to sweeten the deal, there's no way they make it past the divisional round.

but i would love to see a couple of teams that never make it to the super bowl have their day in the sun and that's coming from a Steelers fan.

We had fun hosting your superbowl here a few years ago. Though I'm not in the city proper I'm in the burbs and went downtown for the festivities. Definitely a fun time even though the weather wasn't great - sloppy rain/snow mix. But nice to have downtown shown off well.

Bettis was still playing right? I think he must have had the time of his life playing at home and winning if I remember right.....

yep, that was The Bus' last game, he was asked while on the champion's podium, holding the Lombardi trophy, about the rumors concerning a possible retirement and he said:

"It's been an incredible ride. I played this game to win a championship. I'm a champion, and I think the Bus' last stop is here in Detroit."

the Steelers have a very favorable schedule, 11-5 and even 12-4 is a definite possibility, i see Pittsburgh going deep into the playoffs, the only teams in the AFC that really worry me are the Ravens (who just seem to have the Steelers number and always play them tough) and New England because their offense is custom tailored for beating defensive schemes like those used by the Steelers and Brady is like a surgeon when he plays Pitt.

the only good thing is that NE has some serious holes in the middle of their defense but i expect Belichick to make some adjustments and have them at least into the divisional round.

the Boys and the Skins are playing a close snooze fest, i find myself going back and forth between them and reruns of "it's always sunny in philadelphia".

Can you believe I walked out on this game today against the Cowboys? I figured they were done for in the third quarter early. So I went shopping instead.

I heard the end of the comeback on the car radio.

The first time they've been 4-0 since 1980! And Calvin Johnson is the first receiver to have multiple td receptions in the first four games in a row - at least according to the local radio broadcast guys.

This is hard to believe but I'm enjoying it. Keep it going!

these Lions are not the Lions of old, you can't seem to put them away and they have an explosive offense, they can put up points like nobodies business.

The Pack is still the premiere team in that division, but as far as the NFC is concerned I have the Lions ranked number 3, behind Green Bay (1) and The Saints (2), i like them, i like them a lot to make some noise in the NFC.

what about that shellacking The Pack put on Denver today? and the Jets/Ravens is living up to expectations so far.

edit: how great would it be if the Lions made it to the Super Bowl and the Tigers went to the World Series?

Has Hell frozen over yet???? - and no I don't mean HELL MICHIGAN - yes that really is a town in Michigan - google it

Too cynical??? I guess an 0-16 season and whatever that dreadful season the Tigers had six or eight years ago would do that to a fan.

    But hey I wouldn't complain

how great would it be if both the Lions and the Packers went undefeated into their Thanksgiving Day match up and we ended up with a turkey day game for the ages?

I kind of had the feeling earlier last year. Even though we were dead last in virtually every category, the linemen seemed to never take a play off and the defensive backs were dropping back with a vengeance.

i watched the whole game, the Lions have put together a hell of a team, between all those receivers that are at least 6'1" and Best (the RB) and Stafford Detroit is a team to be reckoned with.

SF could be a problem, the 49ers are also playing out of the minds, should be a good one next week.
