  1. I have a multimedia player that plays videos of all formats including HD
This player does NOT pick up a dvd and play it instead it palys each vob segment as a different video file which is irritating and breaks the continuity of a video so i discovered converting to a single vob file solved my problem

now BlueRay format too i have been told has several segments of the video - is it possible to do something similar like joining one giant ts file using some tool

    Such as...?

BTW vob files are essentially mpg2 files what hd formats are ts files?

    Thanks

You can use clown_bd to rip to a single ts/m2ts file. Or use MakeMKV and make a single MKV from the blu-ray.

    The blu-ray m2ts usually contains h264 video, but also https://www.videohelp.com/hd#tech .

  3. baldrick - you mean a Blu ray disc movie could have been encoded in any of the HD codecs you linked me to?

what about the blu ray movies (feature films) what is their usual codec?

I don't really see how this is a codec problem. If the individual .vob files play OK the codecs are fine. As they should be for mpeg2.

Try the load dvd/br from drive or folder command. If there is none find another player.

x.264 ... which is usually what br video is ... has higher processing requirements than mpeg2. You may want to tweak the buffering parameters in your player if you're using an old machine.

Frankly it's a damn shame how often newbies start installing 3rd party codec packs the first time they have any problems with media programs. Those things are unnecessary and cause more problems than they solve.

I guess it's because google searches have been stacked by codec pack ads.
