I've been messing around with Encore to make a DVD menu with "Play All" and "Scene Selection" buttons, but when I go to "Build a DVD Image" (so I can burn these things one after another), it goes so slow it almost looks like it's frozen for 30 minutes at a time before another mm is added to it.
I just checked this problem out online and saw people crying about 6 hour render times for decently sized files (700mb, 720x480).
What... the... hell...
I'm new to building DVD's, but that's ridiculous! I've been burning DVD's with DVDFlick for a while and have never had to wait more than 45 mins.
Is there any trick to making Encore "Build" this DVD image any faster? I have a deadline tomorrow and totally didn't expect this.
Thanks guys!

"My project was just under 2 gigs in size with about 25 jpgs, two videos in different formats and mp3 audio. It took about 20 minutes to transcode the media and then burn to a disc (20x speed). I was using a quad core processor on a Windows XP SP3 computer with medium-level hardware. This is a much, much faster rate than any I've had with Encore in the past. I think Adobe has done a great job of updating Encore to work with quad core cpu's. Also, in several hours of work I didn't have a single crash or program freeze."
I'm calling shenanigans! No friggin' way...

Use different software, and encode from the lightly-compressed original AVI, and NOT from a second-generation, heavily compressed XVID that has already lost much of the information from the original file.
Just using the original file in CS4 would be a lot faster, most likely.
