hello all... i'm having problems burning with uleads dvd workshop and i'm not sure why. i'm hoping someone might be able to help. i try to lay everything out so maybe someone can spot a problem in my process. first i used adobe premiere 6 to make slideshows. i imported the still images and set a duration for each... i made transitions between each image... and i put in a background song. i then exported this as a dv avi movie. now i did this for three seperate slideshows, and all were exported as dv avi files.

i then opened ulead dvd workshop and imported the three slideshows. one show i used as a "first play" as ulead calls it... which i thought would play before the menu popped up. and then i put the other two slides as two seperate chapters. i then went to the menu screen and made my menu. then went to the finish screen and selected "make disc" and selected "high quality DVD" from that. then i just checked "record to disc" and did NOT check "create dvd directory" or "create disc image file".

well, the dvd worked kind of. when i put it in my standalone player, it skipped the "first play" show that i had made, and went straight to chapter one. then it played straight to chapter two, and then it ended. it will NOT allow me to select my menu that i made... it just and only plays the two chapters. my question is how can i fix this? did i do something wrong or is it the program? i used dv avi files, but i though that workshop would convert them before burning the DVD. did i make a vcd on a DVD because of this? and finally, what other programs are out there that allow the making of menus and have a demo to download so i can try it out?

at $10.99 a dvd-r, i don't have the money to experiment... so if anyone has any clues, ideas, suggestions, please offer them. thanks again for your time and any help, peace

  3. DVD Picture show will do a better job ( also by Ulead ), except you use jpg files, it converts them into mpegs , you can have many slide shows. I have done one with 3800 images into 39 slide shows ( max of 99 images per slide show ), you can add music for background for each slide show ) and I think there is no first play option ( not sure as I cannot find my only slideshow disc I made with it and I have yet to reinstall it back on the computer ) before you go into the main menu.

I've been using the software, and dont see anything wrong in the procedure you used.

First off, i would use DVD-RW discs to test things before burning...
assuming your recorder supports a re-writeable format...

other than that, i dont see nay problems..except try to put all
the avi files in the menus, skipping the FIRST PLAY option, to
    see what happens.

    Win

thanks mikerios for the info, but i already have dvd picture show and don't really like it. it's easy to use, but too simple for me and doesn't allow transitions and allow you to show one jpg longer than another, etc... thanks again though, peace
