There's a Direct TV ad that shows a scene of a fireman in a burning building, the scene is frozen and rotated ala "The Matrix" as the guy watching the movie walks through the scene. It looks like he's walking around the elements of the frozen scene.

Anyone know how this is done?

Compositing fake elements with real, just like 50 years ago, except with computer graphics instead of sliding panels.

If your planning is poor and you shoot it all in one background then you can try masking elements so your subject can pass 'behind' them, but it is much easier to do it all in post.

  5. no... no.... that actor was the superhero Flash and the ad was shot with a new 20000fps HD camera. Very expensive stuff.
