  2. They would be probably NON region 1 encoded, so forget about it. If your DVD player can be hacked, try international Amazon stores, it's that easy.
I personally capture this suff from cable and then burn it. I now have "The last seduction" and "Girl on the bridge". I have them Dolby Digital encoded :P Non available in the US (VHS is even hard to find). Looks great too :P

  4. Try www.play.com they are based in Jersey in the Channel Isles and they have plenty of Region 2 discs for sale. It's where I buy most of my DVD's. Postage is free to the UK, not sure about America though.

  6. I found that amazon.co.uk is pretty good for finding Region 2 DVDs of some of those great British films they haven't slid to Region 1.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

That's because the film is usually only being released in the UK when it is actually available on DVD in the US. This is the major reason for piracy IMHO.

Where was Harry Potter DVD released first ?

However, to answer the original post, you need to buy from countries that have released it before the US, if that happens to be the UK

www.mvc.co.uk is very good, so is www.hmv.co.uk

Best site for Region 2 German PAL if you live stateside is German Music Express: www.musicexpress.com/bin/nph-html/1HV7WzKk5Vss.zpj?f=homepage
Shipping is only $4.95 to the U.S., and they have as good a selection as Amazon.de.

Dumbass. Last post before yours was 1 day short of 9 years ago! Looks like we may have a new champion in the category of most egregious example of grave robbing.

What Digitizer said in post #2.
BUT, if you happen to be visiting L.A., love to browse, and cost is not that great a barrier, check out Amoeba Records (2nd. level) in Hollywood, which had a good-sized bin of such titles the last time I was there. Amoeba is really a trip: the size of a couple football fields stacked on top of each other, filled to the brim with new & used music and video. (You could easily spend half a day there, but I strongly suggest you write up a "Want List" first, to organize your search.)

Also, Cinefile in West L.A., which is film/video only. (There are probably stores like this in NYC as well.) At their foreign discs section, there are signs to remind customers that they must have PAL-capable and region-free players to play such titles. And I think this is still a minority of DVD players.
When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form.
