I am trying to convert H.264 to XviD (mp4) I convert three videos with no problem and now all the files I created are invalid - please help!

The log seems to indicate that either the version of ffmpeg in ffmpegX can't process this particular file
OR that the source file contains unrecoverable errors.
You may want to try to convert this file with some other app, as this issue doesn't seem to be related to settings.

what other apps can I use? I am on a mac and nothing else seems to convert to xvid/mp4. I have converted multiple files the same why but why is this one giving me a problem?

2/ ffmpeg checks the number of reference frames it encounters against what is specified in the file. When that check errors, it doesn't know how to continue. This check may have been changed in later versions of ffmpeg for a more resilient check that doesn't error over something it may find in a lot of files. That is, newer versions of ffmpeg might continue where this version halted.
