Hi - hoping someone can help. Have recently bought an ASDA HDMI 01 DVD player - so far great. However, I have just made a DVD with totally separate soundtracks (English/Welsh) on the R/L audio channels. On other DVD palyers and my PC when I play it the two tracks are totally separate - English on the right and Welsh on the left, which is what I want. On the ASDA machine, however, I get both English and Welsh in each ear.

No changes to any of the Audio out or speaker setup/Downmix settings seem to make any difference.

Wondered if anyone knew what settings give totally separate L/R audio channels or does this machine for some reason not do this?

Seems like you have a mono mix.

Hi edDV - thanks for getting back. The Downmix on the speaker setup has choices (explanations from the manual):-
LT/RT sets up the two channels so that the sound is pushed to either the left or right speaker
    STEREO creates a stereo sound
(there are also Virtual surround sound and 5.1CH choices)

However, whichever I select I get both channels in both ears.

By the way I am taking the output from the L/R stereo audio output jacks.

If the same DVD plays in stereo on other players, the fault is with this player or its settings.

  5. Asda ... what do you expect? Go for something from Toshiba and you'll have a much better DVD player all round.
    Which will work properly.
